Democrats Serve PAC endorses Hilary Franz for Congress

Mar 13, 2024

Highlighting her public service background, the national organization plans to actively support Hilary Franz in her 2024 run.

(March 13, 2024)—Today, Democrats Serve, a national organization supporting Democrats with public service backgrounds, announced the endorsement of Hilary Franz’s congressional bid in Washington’s 6th District.

Democrats Serve’s executive director, Brett Broesder, stated that Franz’s public service experience—having served as a law clerk for federal and state court judges and at NOAA— makes her an excellent example of someone who can excel as a candidate and policymaker.

“Washingtonians need a representative who will fight for them,” said Broesder. “That’s why we’re supporting Hilary Franz’s congressional run. From protecting Washington’s natural resources and public lands to generating hundreds of millions of dollars for schools, Hilary will always do what’s right for Washington families.”

Hilary Franz noted that she’s thrilled to receive Democrats Serve’s support.

“I’m honored to have the endorsement of Democrats Serve,” said Franz. “Having a background in public service as an attorney, former city councilmember, and the Commissioner of Public Lands will allow me to hit the ground running on Day One in Congress.”

Congressman Derek Kilmer (D) announced he is retiring, leaving an open seat in Washington’s 6th District. Kilmer endorsed Franz to succeed him. This Democratic district includes the Kitsap Peninsula, the Olympic Peninsula, and parts of Tacoma.

For the 2024 elections, the group has made endorsements nationwide, including: U.S. Senate Candidates (5): Colin Allred (TX),  Angela Alsobrooks (MD), Katrina Christiansen (ND), Lisa Blunt Rochester (DE), and Adam Schiff (CA); Incumbent House Democrats (3): Yadira Caraveo (CO-03), Jasmine Crockett (TX-30), and Val Foushee (NC-04);  U.S. House Candidates (28): Sue Altman (NJ-07), Lanon Baccam (IA-03), Christina Bohanan (IA-01), Sabrina Bousbar (FL-13), Gil Cisneros (CA-31), Ashley Ehasz (PA-01), Sam Eppler (TX-24), Shomari Figures (AL-02), Adam Gray (CA-13), Ron Harris (MN-03), Sam Liccardo (CA-16), Michelle Maldonado (VA-10), John Mannion (NY-22), Dave Min (CA-47), Jessica Morse (CA-03), Johnny Olszewski Jr (MD-02), Josh Riley (NY-19), Kristen McDonald Rivet (MI-08), Mike Rogers (MD-03), Will Rollins (CA-41), Rudy Salas (CA-22), Briana Sewell (VA-07), Amish Shah (AZ-01), Missy Cotter Smasal (VA-02), Derek Tran (CA-45) Tony Vargas (NE-02), and Joe Vogel (MD-06).
