Ensuring that every senior can retire with dignity is personal for Hilary. She was the primary caregiver for her father for 13 years when he was diagnosed with early onset dementia. She saw how difficult it is to care for an elderly parent in need and how few resources and supports were available. For too many, aging means immense financial burdens they simply cannot meet. This is morally unacceptable.
Hilary will fight to ensure that every American can retire and live with dignity. She will always protect our two greatest policies – Medicare and Social Security – and oppose efforts to privatize them or raise the retirement age. And she will protect the right for Medicare to negotiate drug prices.
